Anker PowerWave Wireless Chargestand
Pros and Cons
Short USB Cable
Charger Wattage or Speed
The Anker PowerWave Wireless Chargestand is fast charge enabled, with a maximum output of a 10W for Samsung and 7.5W for iPhone. It is specially designed to optimise to your phone’s charging capability.
This product is not Qi certified but previous products in Anker’s line of wireless chargers have been.
Accompanying Cable and Plug
This mobile phone induction charging stand is USB-C compatible and comes with both a USB-C cable and a Qualcomm quickcharge 3.0 wall plug which ensures your charger is working at its optimum speed. One downside is that the USB cable is not that long but it can easily be swapped out for any other USB cable.
Size and Aesthetics
Similar to the PowerWave charging pad Anker have chosen to swap out the traditional plain black colouration of their charging stands for a brighter white with this product. A smooth grey TPU matte material on the front of the stand also provides a soft grippy finish. Compared to the pad the stand is a much more compact option taking up less space overall.
This Anker wireless charger functions like a standard wireless charging stand but has many built in features to improve the experience: intelligent technology can determine the battery status and only administer the appropriate voltage. There are also state of the art internal cooling fans which prevent overheating.
The front of the Anker PowerWave Wireless Chargestand is covered in a non-slip TPU coating which provides grip for your phone. In addition, there is a silicone ring on the base of the charger which will ensure that it doesn't move around.
The stand is angled at 60° which Anker claim is optimal for using iPhone face recognition. You can also place your phone in both portrait and landscape orientation due to the dual coil technology. Further, the stand is roughly the width of a smartphone making it clear where to position your device although it may take some adjustment.
The LED indicator on the Anker Powerwave Charging Stand is very similar to the one on the Powerwave Charging Pad and is a small LED built into a small circular ring on the base of the cradle which lights up light blue when your phone is being charged. It is small and subtle and unlikely to bother night time chargers.
While this product is not Qi certified, the Anker brand is well trusted enough now for this to be a great purchase for the cost, especially considering all the features and the added Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0 wall plug.
