Size and Aesthetics
An obvious comparison will be made between the Charge Stream Powerstation and its predecessor, the Charge Force Powerstation, and while there are a large number of similarities there are some differences worth pointing out.
For one, this product, the regular Charge Stream Powerstation, is smaller than the Charge Force (the Charge Stream Powerstation XL is the same size however) with smaller dimensions that cover less of your phone but allow the Powerstation to be more portable. As a result, this product also packs a smaller 6040mAh battery.
Whilst there is still a USB-A port on the top there is now a USB-C port as opposed to the micro-USB on the Charge Force Powerstation, this allows the product to benefit from the better interoperability USB-C provides and according to mophie improves the charging efficiency of the Powerstation by up to 67%.
In terms of pure aesthetics, the Charge Stream Powerstation is still rectangular in build and is a sleek black all over but now has slightly curved edges and only a written logo on the front panel without the mophie symbol.
Functionality
This mophie wireless charger acts as a wireless charging powerbank but has an additional high-output 10W USB-A port on the front side panel which can charge an additional device alongside the wireless charger.
When the mophie Charge Stream Powerstation is itself charging it uses priority charging to send power to the device that is charging before powering up the Powerstation. The 6040mAh battery provides roughly 34 hours of smartphone charge, 18 hours of small tablet charge and 14 hours for a large tablet. Bear in mind these numbers may be slightly less when wirelessly charging. To turn on the product simply press and hold the button on the right-side panel, underneath the LEDs.
Unlike the Charge Force series Charge Stream products can be used with all Qi enabled devices.
Grip
Unlike the Charge Force range Charge Stream products do not use magnets. However, a non-slip TPU coating on the front and bottom panels should prevent either your phone or the Powerstation from sliding about.
Positioning
The mophie Charge Stream Powerstation contains only one transmitter coil so securing the phone in position may take a bit of fiddling.
Indicator
4 bright white status LEDS on the top right side of the product indicate the level of charge remaining, each LED indicating 25% of charge. There is also an additional LED on the bottom of the product indicating when it is turned on.
Charging Distance
3mm.
Price 3/5
Considering this product offers true wireless charging without a wire, is a portable powerbank and is a very well-made product by a top charging brand the price is warranted. However, there are other cheaper wireless charging powerbanks that might be a more viable option if you are not looking for top-brand quality.
